Connecticut Fees for Recording a Land Record Document Effective July 1, 2025

Recording Document: ( excluding any document with a Nominee)

  • $70 for first page - $5 for each additional page
  • $160 flat fee for Assignments and Releases of Mortgage where the nominee is the Grantor
  • $160 for first page and $5 for each additional page for all documents except nominee as Grantor of Assignments and Releases

How Can I Obtain A Copy Of A Land Record?

You may obtain a copy of a Land Record at the Town Clerk's Office for $1.00 per page or by logging into Record Hub from your home for a fee.

Monday - Wednesday: 4:00 PM Thursday: 5:30 PM

The fees for recording a document are $60.00 for the first page, and $5.00 for each additional page. For deeds with conveyance, the fee of $2.00 is added to the total charge.

For a Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems Incorporated document the fees are as follows:
Grantor/Grantee: $159.00 for the first page and $5.00 for each subsequent page. Grantor/Grantee Release/Assignment: $159.00 for the document regardless of page count.

How Do I Obtain A Copy Of A Birth, Marriage Or Death Certificate?

You may obtain a copy of a birth, marriage or death certificate at the Town Clerk's Office. You must present your valid government issued photo  (i.e. Driver's License or Passport) along with a completed application.

Certificate payment is accepted by cash or check payable to the Town of Bethel. The fee is $20.00 per certificate. Credit Cards are not accepted.

Marriage licenses are issued by appointment only.

  • The online marriage license must be completed prior to making your appointment. Both parties must appear together in person to take an oath and complete the license before issuance.
  • You must have a date selected.
  • You must have the officiant arranged, bring with your their contact information to include Name, Address, and Phone Number. The Town Clerk does not perform marriage ceremonies.
  • You must bring with you a valid, government (i.e. Driver's License or Passport).
  • $50.00 for the license and $20.00 prepayment for your certified certificate for a total of $70.00 cash or check. Credit Cards are not accepted.
  • The marriage license is only valid for a period of 65 days from the date of issuance. If the license is not used within this time frame, you must begin the process over and reapply. You can only apply in the town where the marriage is taking place.
