Tax Senior Associate – Sales/Use (Baker Tilly US)
Baker Tilly is a leading advisory, tax and assurance firm that serves clients across the U.S. and globally. As a Tax Senior Associate, you will provide sales & use tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of middle‑market and Fortune 500 clients.
Job OverviewYou will help clients comply with state and local sales‑tax laws, prepare and file returns, conduct tax‑law research, manage client relationships, and maintain accuracy in a deadline‑driven environment. The role is based on the East Coast and requires a BI‑T office tie‑in.
Responsibilities- Prepare and file state and local sales‑tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.
- Perform research on relevant tax law and resolve outstanding tax issues for clients.
- Interact with, manage, and provide service to a portfolio of middle‑market and Fortune 500 clients.
- Analyze large amounts of client data to identify compliance gaps.
- Maintain internal relationships with colleagues, other service lines and engagement/project teams.
- Develop and retain technical tax expertise.
- Proactively identify and communicate issues as they arise.
- Adhere to firm policies and procedures.
- Apply knowledge of computer applications and Excel tools.
- Participate in on‑the‑job coaching, mentoring, and firm‑wide learning programs.
- Network and build strong internal and external relationships with clients.
- Enjoy social activities and team outings that encourage a work‑life balance.
- Experience working with firm leadership to support middle‑market and Fortune 500 companies on sales‑use tax issues.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, economics, or a related math field.
- Minimum three years of experience in public accounting or industry, completing and reconciling multi‑state sales and use tax returns.
- Experience researching tax‑ability law is preferred.
- Strong time‑management, communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
- Project management, organizational, analytical skills, initiative, and adaptability.
- Microsoft Office Suite skills.

Compensation range: $74,660 – $141,560 (actual compensation varies by skill, experience, and geography).
