Located in a K-12 school, the Cook position performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, and serving duties in a commercial kitchen, storeroom, dining, or serving area.

• Wash objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
• Clean dishes, utensils, pots, pans, etc., and place them in assigned storage areas in an organized and orderly manner.
• Maintain a variety of products at specified levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas, including service machines.
• Stock storage areas with various products.
• Clean, sweep, wipe down all general dining, kitchen, or storage areas, spike rooms, equipment, and all floors.
• Remove garbage from assigned areas, set up or break down tables, snack bars, display cases, serving lines, etc.
• Assist with periodically scheduled large cleaning projects.
• Assist cooks and others as needed and coordinate own activities with others.
• Occasionally prepare food or cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, etc.
• Perform other duties pertinent to the department or unit's success as assigned.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1 year of directly related food preparation or cooking experience.
• Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English.

• A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for the past 3 years (to be eligible under NMS vehicle insurance policy).
