Position: Immediate: Long-Term Substitute Counselor, Westbrook ES, Full Time

Immediate:
Long-Term Substitute Counselor, Westbrook ES, Full Time

Under direction, provides a comprehensive developmental program of guidance and counseling to assist students in the area of academic achievement, career/educational decision making, and personal and social development. Acts as consultant to school staff, parents, and community members.

Physical Demands:
As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job. Special Requirements:
Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

This is a Temporary Part Time (TPT) position that does not include benefits. Wage range is dependent on multiple factors. For wage information for this position, please contact the hiring manager. This is a Long-Term Substitute position for an elementary school counselor supporting Grades K-5 general and special education students. Support will be needed from approximately February 26th to May 26th.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of the MCPS Policies and Procedures, Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program, and Program of Studies.
  • Knowledge of growth and development stages of children.
  • Ability to read, take notes, and interpret written material.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently with staff, students, and parents.
  • Ability to use a computer and other technological equipment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to speak effectively to large and small groups.
  • Excellent human relations skills with the ability to establish good relationships with many different types of individuals and groups.
Education & Training & Experience
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in school guidance and counseling.
  • Experience as a teacher and/or counselor preferred.
  • Certificate License:
    Meets Maryland state certification requirements for school guidance and counseling.
