The Human Resources Specialist coordinates day‑to‑day Human Resources activities for The Children’s Inn at NIH, including recruitment, benefits, employee relations, performance management, compensation administration, payroll processing and regulatory compliance.
Duties And Responsibilities- Serves as subject‑matter expert in implementing HR programs and initiatives responsive to the Inn’s mission and best practices.
- Consults, leads and ensures quality control in the application and interpretation of employment policies and procedures.
- Fosters a success‑oriented, accountable environment throughout the organization.
- Monitors HR program efficiency, develops reporting procedures and revises processes to enhance effectiveness.
- Develops written HR procedures for recruitment, employment, and compensation.
- Oversees and administers recruitment for management, professional, and administrative roles, including diversity initiatives.
- Manages hiring and termination processes.
- Represents HR on in‑house committees and task forces.
- Maintains personnel records in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Administers insurance, benefits, and compensation programs.
- Administers the organization’s talent review process.
- Conducts training needs analyses and implements development programs.
- Processes payroll and maintains time‑keeping records.
- Investigates and recommends resolutions for employee disputes and grievances.
- Promotes employee morale programs, recognition, and retention initiatives.
- Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field; PHR or SHRM‑CP certification preferred.
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of professional HR experience.
Skills Required- Superior attention to detail and multi‑tasking ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Confidentiality in HR work.
- Customer‑service orientation with all employee levels.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Knowledge of ERISA, FLSA, COBRA, ADA.
- Team‑building skills across departments.
- Independent work capability.
- Expertise in recruiting, compensation, performance management, and benefits.
- Projects a professional, caring image of The Children’s Inn.
Official schedule:
Monday‑Friday, general business hours; mix of remote and onsite workdays with at least 3 days in the office each week.
Hiring Salary Range: $74‑84K
Benefits include health, dental, vision, 401(k) with up to 10% employer contribution and match, generous paid leave (vacation, sick, mental health, parental), employee volunteer leave, and hybrid telework arrangements.
