Senior Systems Engineer – Maximus
Job SummaryMaximus is seeking a results‑oriented Systems Engineer experienced in Standards or Technical Specifications to join our team in Bethesda, Maryland. You will play a critical role improving and maintaining our client's technical specification repository by applying structured systems engineering approaches.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Engage with stakeholders to understand the intent of technical specifications, analyze their impact on IT architecture, and translate them into authoritative machine‑readable formats using systems engineering and software development best practices.
- Familiarize yourself with existing tools and help implement the team’s migration to a new set of technical tools.
- Mentor a junior team member, helping them develop their technical skills.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
- Bachelor’s degree and 8–12 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 6–10 years, and optionally a Doctorate.
- Ability to work on‑site full‑time in Bethesda, MD.
- Strong knowledge of standard software development processes (Dev Ops, requirements engineering, coding, documentation, configuration management, QA, integration, testing).
- Experience with structured analytic techniques, XML, Dev Ops tools, build automation, SDK, and common programming languages.
- Demonstrated ability to build code collaboratively in team environments following agile or similar methodologies.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience managing standards or technical specifications.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Five or more years working with or in the Intelligence Community.
- Familiarity with U.S. Government information sharing frameworks, policies, and interoperability requirements.
- Familiarity with system modeling and Unified Modeling Language (UML).

Pay TransparencyAnnual salary ranges from 150,000 to 165,000, with additional short‑ and long‑term incentives, program awards, and benefits such as health insurance, life and disability insurance, retirement savings, paid holidays, and paid time off.
