Job Description

GDIT is seeking a Lead Dev Ops Engineer to join our program supporting the biomedical research community for our customer with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at the National Institutes of Health.

As a Dev Ops Engineer Lead, you will develop, maintain, and support Dev Ops practices. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Manage and lead the Dev Ops activities and team of engineers
  • Deploy and configure cloud services according to best practice
  • Use system automation technologies, such as Jenkins, Copado, TFS/Azure Dev Ops, Chef, Puppet, Ansible or others to create standardized IT
  • Design, plan, and integrate cloud computing and virtualization systems using infrastructure as code and modern cloud-native deployment techniques, such as Dev Ops and/or Dev Sec Ops .
  • Design and support Continuous Delivery
  • Work with Solution Architects to conduct proof of concepts (POCs) and assist in Production implementations
  • Assess existing application stacks and suggest cloud native services for applicability
  • Assess existing environments for opportunities to simply, automate or bring efficiency to technical processes
  • Develop automation scripts for efficient deployment and operations of cloud environments
  • Advanced troubleshooting, including analyzing log & trace files, opening service requests, collecting documentation, working with Vendors, and driving problem resolutions
Required Qualifications /Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years of experience supporting IT infrastructure
  • Minimum of two years of experience with Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud architecture, operations, Dev Ops, or administration
  • Minimum of two years of experience with cloud automation and scripting
  • Minimum of two years of experience creating deployment scripts (e.g., Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Ansible)
  • In depth understanding of Cloud Migration methodologies and best practices
  • Experience with documenting procedures
  • Working knowledge of software deployment, versioning, and release management processes
  • Experience working with and supporting software production server environments
  • Experience with patching operating systems and conducting application upgrades
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance and must have lived in the United States
Desired Qualifications/Skills
  • US citizen or a Green Card holder
  • Experience with Copado
  • Salesforce experience
  • Experience in Agile practices
  • Experienced in Agile software development practices and tools, such as Atlassian JIRA
  • Work experience supporting Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) agency or other Federal agencies
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices and an understanding of industry trends and difficulties

The likely salary range for this position is $141,270 - $191,130. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
