Job Description Summary

Plans, directs, and evaluates the overall clinical care and functions. Oversees activities of the clinical areas and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the clinical team—including nurses, medical assistants (if applicable), and pharmacy technicians. Assesses, monitors, and educates all clinical staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary. Ensures compliance with all standard operating procedures and regulations.

Primary Key Performance Areas KPA 1 – Clinical Knowledge
  • Maintain oncology nursing knowledge and clinical operations.
  • Act as physician and advanced provider liaison, partnering with the Office Manager to ensure patient safety and smooth office flow.
  • Communicate with home health agencies to assure quality and continuity of patient care.
  • Support and maintain knowledge of clinical trials and ECOG; communicate relevant information with the research department.
  • Oversee special procedures and chemotherapy treatments within the office.
  • Handle DME, insurance forms, FMLA, and disability applications.
  • Complete incident and adverse event reports.
  • Ensure daily variance reports and resolution of unsigned charges.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to maintain sufficient stock and minimize waste.
  • Maintain knowledge of Nucleus medication dispensing system.
  • Oversee ordering of medical and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Collaborate with Office Manager for 24‑hour drug refrigeration monitoring and response.
KPA 2 – Leadership
  • Efficiently train team members to provide quality services to oncology patients.
  • Manage daily direction and communication so departmental work is timely and efficient.
  • Create and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Manage schedule for clinic nurses, medical assistants and pharmacy technicians, ensuring adequate coverage.
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular nurse staff meetings.
  • Participate in ICIMS process, interview applicants, and assist in hiring decisions with HR recruiter.
  • Oversee orientation of new staff in collaboration with trainers.
  • Provide performance evaluations for 90‑day and annual reviews.
  • Give regular performance feedback and coaching.
  • Maintain documentation for disciplinary actions.
  • Review and approve time‑off requests fairly while maintaining staffing.
  • Submit timesheets to payroll for all direct reports.
KPA 3 – Education and SOPs
  • Assist in creation and review of clinical activities and operations.
  • Coordinate and direct clinical staff to teach patient education classes.
  • Manage packet assembly for orientation and patient education sessions.
  • Monitor nursing team to follow Nursing Standard Operating Procedures.
KPA 4 – Compliance and SOPs
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
  • Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures; enact disciplinary actions as needed.
KPA 5 – Communication and Customer Service
  • Manage and communicate all clinical policy, procedure, and regulatory changes.
  • Serve as a resource for staff regarding company policies.
  • Stay current on oncology updates and share with clinical staff.
  • Maintain positive relationships with other company employees to promote a cooperative environment.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Education

Requires Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
