Position: GS 14 Supervisory Nurse (Nurse Managers)

Talented Nurse Leaders are at the heart of our 200-bed research hospital and ambulatory care center that is designated as Magnet with Distinction. We are eager to fill permanent full-time GS-14 Supervisory Nurses (Nurse Managers). The NIH Clinical Center Nursing Department has an accredited Transition to Practice program and an extraordinary, shared governance model.

Nurse Manager positions are available in the following clinical areas:
  • Oncology Bone Marrow Transplant Unit
  • Adult Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit, Pediatric Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit, and Ambulatory Behavioral Health Clini
Duties:
  • The Nurse Manager has supervisory duties, responsibility, and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff, fostering professional development and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Leads team members in the provision of high-quality clinical research nursing care, meeting quality and safety standards.
  • Foster and sustain strong collaborative partnerships with institute stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years of clinical experience and 1-2 years leadership experience in an acute care setting. Experience in nursing leadership, human resources practices including recruitment, selection, placement, counseling, training, and career development. Requires skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision making. Strong leadership, communication, critical thinking and conflict resolution. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with medical, clinical staff, institute stakeholders and research participants.

BSN/MSN or MS in a related field preferred. Specialty certification from a nationally recognized nursing organization in either a clinical specialty or Nursing Administration preferred. Applicants must have an unrestricted license in a State, territory of the U.S., the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
