PreOp and PACU Registered Nurse

District Surgery Center is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pre-Op and PACU team.

This role offers the opportunity to care for patients throughout their surgical journey, from pre-operative preparation to post-anesthesia recovery, in a collaborative and patient-focused ambulatory surgery center.

Conduct pre-surgical assessments and patient interviews

Review charts to ensure all required testing, labs, and documentation are complete

Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures and recovery expectations

Coordinate with physician offices, anesthesia providers, and clinical staff to ensure surgical readiness

Serve as a clinical resource and support smooth daily patient flow

Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU)

Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures

Perform comprehensive assessments and closely monitor airway, cardiac, and hemodynamic status

Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition

Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia providers to ensure safe recovery and discharge

Provide discharge teaching and support to patients and their caregivers

Qualifications

Current Maryland RN license or Compact RN license

BLS and ACLS certifications required

Minimum of 2 years of recent PACU experience preferred

Strong assessment and critical thinking skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork
