The role of a Fire Alarm Inspector I involves learning and acquiring practical skills in various aspects of fire protection systems, including fire suppression, detection, and alarm systems. As an apprentice, you will work closely with experienced inspectors to gain insights and hands‑on experience in ensuring the safety and compliance of fire protection systems.

Responsibilities
  • Assist senior technicians with the installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems, including fire suppression, detection, and alarm systems.
  • Shadow experienced technicians during site visits to observe and learn industry best practices in system management and servicing.
  • Engage in training sessions and workshops to develop foundational knowledge of fire protection system components, technologies, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in routine inspections and testing of fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and upgrades of fire alarm systems as needed.
  • Document system inspections, maintenance activities, test results, and repairs.
  • Learn to handle and utilize tools and equipment essential for the installation and upkeep of fire protection systems.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations in all on‑site activities and training exercises to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, actively contributing to project tasks and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Seek guidance and mentorship from seasoned professionals to enhance technical skills and progress towards becoming a proficient Fire Protection Technician.

Qualifications
  • HS Diploma/GED and 1 year of relevant experience.
  • This position has been identified as requiring an additional client background check.
  • Ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance.
  • Above average level of attention to detail and professional work ethic.
  • Commitment to excellence and a high quality of work.
  • Ability to function in a controlled, effective manner under stress.
  • Strong desire to continuously increase your skill set and take on more responsibility.
  • Above average communication skills with customers, other field personnel, office staff and sub‑contractors.
Certifications
  • Possess NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level I or
  • Pass NICET I exam within 90 days of employment.
  • NICET II Preferred.

Pay Rate: $24.00 - $26.00

Abilities
  • The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials.
