OverviewSt. Joseph Hospital, located in Bethpage, NY, is a not‑for‑profit full‑service, 203‑bed community hospital that plays a paramount role in its communities. The Emergency Department cares for over 34,000 patients a year. The hospital has achieved disease‑specific certification for its Stroke Program, designated by NYS as a Gold Plus Center. Other vital services include the St. Francis Imaging Center eph Hospital, a state‑of‑the‑art cardiac CT scanner, MRI, vascular laboratory, wound healing & hyperbaric medicine, center for sleep medicine, center for swallowing, speech & voice, and comprehensive inpatient medical, critical care and surgical services.
St. Joseph Hospital also takes great pride in its extensive community outreach programs such as diabetes education, support groups, pet therapy, health fairs, teddy bear clinics and lecture series.
- Evaluate all patients referred by the Emergency Department for admission to inpatient or observation on a nursing unit, including their suitability for admission/observation status.
- Complete history and physical examination, including all elements required by Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations, no later than the end of the work shift.
- Complete medication reconciliation, reconcile outside problem lists, and submit admitting orders for all patients admitted to inpatient/observation status, including appropriate prophylaxis for deep venous thrombosis.
- Ensure that all necessary consultants have been contacted for each admission.
- Perform a warm hand‑off and sign‑out to the attending physician by the end of the shift.
- Participate in all Patient Experience and Patient Safety programs at the hospital.
- Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- If board eligible, complete certification within five years of eligibility.
- Unrestricted New York State license.
- DEA license.
- Meet all St. Joseph Hospital Medical Staff credentialing requirements.
- Maintain ACLS & BLS certification.
USD $165.00 – $190.00 per hour.
