We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Office Assistant at NYU Langone Medical Associates in Bethpage. The successful candidate will provide basic front‑desk support for clinic intake operations and assist with pre‑authorizations and certifications (excluding surgical procedures).
Position SummaryIn this role the candidate will be responsible for front‑desk support, patient check‑in/check‑out, scheduling, insurance verification, and intake documentation.
Job Responsibilities- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Provides reception assistance by greeting patients, answering calls, directing inquiries, scheduling routine appointments, and referring pre‑authorization requests to the appropriate person.
- Facilitates patient check‑in and check‑out by collecting demographic and insurance information, verifying eligibility, having patients sign required documents, and following up to complete the intake process.
- Collects co‑pays and other balances owed, scans documents into the intake system, and monitors the intake queue for timely completion.
- Assists with pre‑authorizations and certifications (excluding surgical procedures), ensuring correct procedure and diagnosis coding and verifying accuracy with physicians when needed.
- Responds to insurance coverage questions and refers patients needing financial counsel to the appropriate business office.
- Maintains professional relationships with physicians, nurses, and office staff; types routine forms and letters accurately.
- Handles patient questions to ensure satisfaction and confidentiality, escalating to senior staff as required.
- Organizes and maintains files in a clean, orderly manner, processes incoming and outgoing documents, and manages supplies and faxing as per department procedures.
- Provides guidance and training to staff on completing intake‑related duties, as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent; excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; strong customer‑service orientation; ability to multitask efficiently and work well within a team; proficiency with Microsoft Office, database and internet applications; light, accurate keyboarding skills.
Preferred Qualifications- At least six months of physician office practice experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience with EPIC Ambulatory.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides the salary range for this role: $27.77 – $51,206.48 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, specialty, and hospital needs. The range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other compensation.
