Salary Range: $23-$25 per hour (depending on experience)
Job SummaryThe Full-time Program Coordinator is a key staff position within the Satellite Services department of Long Island Cares, Inc. The program coordinator is responsible for the daily operations of the Bethpage Satellite. This position will also include occasional evenings or weekends to help meet client’s needs.
Essential Functions (Site Coordinator)- Serve as the on-site coordinator and leader of the food pantry, acting as the primary point of contact for neighbors, volunteers, and community partners.
- Provide direct, high-quality customer service to community members by greeting, checking in, and supporting neighbors during their visits, while ensuring a welcoming and respectful environment.
- Conduct client needs assessments related to food insecurity, emergency relief, and other circumstances requiring assistance through food pantry resources.
- Oversee daily site operations, ensuring efficient workflow, compliance with program guidelines, and consistent service delivery.
- Manage volunteers and coordinate schedules.
- Manage inventory by monitoring stock levels, maintaining accurate records, and placing weekly food and supply orders based on available product from the LIC warehouse.
- Train, supervise, and support volunteers, including onboarding new volunteers and providing guidance on client interaction, grocery selection assistance, stocking, cleanliness, and pantry procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and client-ready pantry environment at all times.
- Perform clerical and administrative duties, including correspondence, maintaining community resource lists, updating pantry materials, filing, and data entry.
- Build and maintain ongoing relationships with community partners to strengthen services and identify opportunities to connect clients with additional resources.
- Identify operational challenges and client service issues as they arise, applying problem-solving skills to ensure smooth operations and positive outcomes.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports on satellite site activity, outcomes, and progress to the Director of Satellite Services.
- Perform other duties and tasks assigned by the Program Coordinator and leadership.
- Fluent in Spanish and English.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Relative work experience in office operations, non‑for‑profit, or human services preferred.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
- Valid and clean NYS driver’s license.
