Technical Assistant (Traffic Management).
18 month fixed term contract.
We are looking to recruit a Technical Assistant to join the Traffic & Parking team within the Prosperity and Place directorate.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a busy and high-profile service that delivers traffic management, parking, and highway safety schemes across the East Riding. You will play a key supporting role in ensuring the efficient operation of the service and helping to deliver improvements to the local highway network.
The Role
As a Technical Assistant, you will provide essential support to the Traffic Management team, assisting with a wide range of activities including technical, administrative and customer-facing work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the preparation of drawings, plans and schedules for traffic management and parking schemes.
- Assisting with site visits and inspections to gather information and assess issues.
- Supporting the delivery of the Civil Parking Enforcement signs and lines programme.
- Creating, maintaining and updating records, logs and databases
- Acting as a first point of contact for routine enquiries from the public and stakeholders.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and experience within a professional highways environment, with support and supervision from experienced engineers.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and organised individual who is keen to develop a career in traffic management or highways.
You will have:
- GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths.
- Experience of working in an administrative or technical support role.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to respond to enquiries clearly.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and learning new systems.
You should also be:
- Proactive and flexible, with a willingness to support the wider team.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Committed to delivering a high-quality service.
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is required for this role.
TravelSome travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required, applicants must be able to transport themselves.
