If you’re a chemist who enjoys getting hands-on with formulation, problem-solving, and seeing your work make a tangible difference, this is your opportunity. Vuba Surfaces is looking for a Chemist based in Beverley to support the development, testing, and continuous improvement of premium products designed to perform, look brilliant, and earn repeat customers.
This is a role for someone who is confident working at bench level, interpreting data, and collaborating with others to take formulations from “promising” to “production-ready”. You’ll help us refine existing products and contribute to new ones, bringing both scientific rigour and practical judgement to every batch, trial, and improvement cycle.
What you’ll doYou’ll play a key part in our product development and quality-driven culture. Your day-to-day work will include:
- Formulation & development: develop and improve chemical formulations, including adjusting ingredients, concentrations, and performance parameters to meet specific targets.
- Testing & analysis: carry out laboratory tests (as appropriate to the product range), record results accurately, and interpret findings to support decisions.
- Bench work & scale-up: prepare samples, run trials, and assist with scaling up formulations to align with manufacturing needs and consistency requirements.
- Quality & compliance support: follow relevant safety, handling, and documentation processes, and help ensure products are produced and assessed to the required standards.
- Continuous improvement: identify root causes of variation, work to reduce defects or inconsistencies, and propose solutions backed by evidence.
- Document everything: maintain clear lab records, preparation notes, and test documentation so that progress can be tracked and repeated reliably.
- Collaborate and communicate: partner with cross-functional teams to translate customer needs and performance insights into formulation improvements.
We’d love to hear from you if you’re a chemist with a strong foundation in formulation and practical lab experience. You don’t need to have done this exact role before—what matters is that you’re confident with chemistry in the real world and committed to delivering measurable results.
- Qualifications:
a degree in Chemistry (or a closely related discipline). Higher qualifications are welcome, but experience and capability are key. - Hands-on formulation experience: experience working with chemical formulations, mixing processes, and formulation troubleshooting.
- Data-minded approach: you can interpret test outcomes, draw conclusions, and understand what “good” looks like for a product.
- Strong documentation habits: you write and record clearly, and you understand why traceability matters.
- Safety awareness: you follow lab and workplace safety procedures consistently and responsibly.
- Team mindset: you can work collaboratively, ask the right questions, and communicate results in a clear, helpful way.
Great chemistry isn’t just about formulas—it’s about iteration, curiosity, and ownership. In this position, you’ll have the satisfaction of building and refining products that are designed to delight customers and withstand real-world use.
You’ll be joining a fast-moving environment where ideas are tested, improvements are welcomed, and high standards are encouraged. If you thrive when you can combine structured lab work with creative problem-solving, you’ll fit right in.
