OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Inventory Accounting Manager to join our team. In this role, you will own all aspects of inventory accounting, cost accounting, and inventory valuation for our manufacturing and retail entity. Responsibilities include managing monthly closing activities, working closely with our Business Technology Solutions group to improve processes and reporting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, thrives in a dynamic environment, manages multiple priorities, and collaborates well both independently and as part of a team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage accounting, reporting, and analysis related to inventories, gross margins, and standard costs.
- Collaborate with Product, Sourcing, and Logistics departments to establish accurate standard costs for all products.
- Work with Sales leadership and Category Managers to provide costing info for pricing strategies.
- Maintain accurate standard costs for bill of materials.
- Monitor inventory balances and report on adjustments and COGS.
- Prepare and review journal entries related to inventory and COGS.
- Ensure proper valuation of inventories under US GAAP, including reserves for slow-moving or obsolete stock.
- Reconcile inventory accounts across global territories.
- Document current inventory processes and act as liaison during physical counts.
- Establish internal controls related to inventory and COGS.
- Report on low-margin and slow-moving inventory for management action.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of cost analysis experience in manufacturing, preferably apparel.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Strong background in cost systems and standard costing.
- Excellent analytical and project management skills.
- Experience with ERP systems supporting manufacturing.
- CPA preferred.
- Effective communication skills.
The salary range is $140,000-$160,000 annually, with potential variations based on location, experience, and performance. Additional benefits include bonuses, incentives, PTO, and other rewards.
