Our client, a very successful multi‑generational Family Office in Beverly Hills, has retained us to bring them a Tax Manager. This newly created position is due to the growth of the Family Office and their investments and philanthropic activities.
The Family Office supports a variety of entities, including partnerships, joint ventures, corporations, trusts, and non‑profits primarily investing in real estate across the country. The office has a growing accounting department with accountants, AP specialists, and billing/AR roles.
Compensation includes a base salary and discretionary bonus, plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes 401(k), Medical, Dental and Vision insurance (company pays 100% of premiums), free parking and a daily catered lunch.
The Opportunity Tax- Work with outside providers to coordinate Tax Packages and the preparation of tax returns; C‑corps, S‑corps, partnership, single‑member LLC & non‑profit returns.
- Preparation of recurring (monthly, quarterly, or annual) state and local tax filings which include franchise tax, gross receipts tax, and sales & use tax returns.
- Handle extensions & estimated tax payments.
- Review of fixed assets for personal property tax filings.
- Resolving tax notices & inquiries.
- Plan & coordinate resources for tax season each year to ensure an efficient tax season.
- Onboard new entities – research into tax filing requirements, both state and local income tax and any other business taxes.
- Assist with inter‑family loans – prepare loan agreements, interest calculation & year‑end interest accruals for tax purposes.
- Assist with the monthly financial report.
- Depreciation analysis using the Fixed Asset module to provide depreciation for tax planning & estimated payments.
- Learn the accounting software (MRI) and be able to help do quarterly tax reviews.
- Help post tax entries (depreciation, K‑1 income, etc.) each year.
- Learn how to do elimination entries and consolidate financial reports.
- Run projections for tax analysis.
- Review and reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger/trial balance.
- Ideally a minimum of four years of experience in public accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
- Tax experience required (an emphasis in Individuals and Partnerships highly valued).
- Proficiency within a fast‑paced environment; demonstrated organizational skills, strong time management, attention to detail, and the ability to multi‑task.
- Ability to monitor and prioritize work; strong commitment to meeting a continuous cycle of deadlines.
- Ability to work across all areas of the finance department (e.g., tax, accounting, finance, compliance, etc.) as well with third party / outside service providers.
- Comfortable performing hands‑on work and supporting other employees from staff to leadership levels.
- Strong computer technical skills – Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Self‑motivated, self‑directed and proven ability to work well independently.
- Critical thinker who is comfortable asking questions.
- High integrity; pride in one’s work.
- Accountability for all work product and deliverables.
- Desire and willingness for continued growth and learning.
