Pabst Labs is a high growth beverage company with multiple brands in the licensed cannabis beverage market. We go to market under the “St. Ides”, “Not Your Father’s” and “Pabst Blue Ribbon” brands.

We are seeking a Controller to help lead and scale our accounting function during a period of rapid growth. This role will oversee all accounting, reporting and controls processes for the Company. You will own the monthly close process, core accounting operations and financial reporting, while partnering closely with the CFO on systems, controls, and process improvements. Our ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and ready to take on increasing ownership as the business scales.

This is a full‑time role that will be based out of our office in Beverly Hills.

• Financial Reporting & Accounting
  • Own and manage the monthly close process (timelines, checklists, reviews)
  • Maintain full general ledger ownership, including journal entries and accruals
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
  • Perform variance analysis and partner with leadership to explain results
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Maintain and enhance internal control systems; drive SOX‑like discipline appropriate for business size
• Cash & Working Capital Management
  • Oversee cash flow reporting and forecasting
  • Drive AR/AP discipline; optimize working capital
• Revenue, Inventory & COGS
  • Oversee revenue recognition in coordination with distributors and retail channels
  • Own inventory accounting, including standard costing, landed cost allocations, reserves, and obsolescence
  • Reconcile inventory across systems, warehouses, and 3PLs
  • Ensure accurate COGS and gross margin reporting
• Trade Spend & Deductions
  • Manage trade spend, billbacks, chargebacks, and distributor deductions
  • Support improvements to trade spend tracking and reporting
• Tax Support
  • Support annual tax filings, sales & use tax compliance, and regulatory reporting
• Systems & Process Improvement
  • Support accounting systems and tools (e.g., Quick Books, inventory systems)
  • Identify and implement process improvements to scale accounting operations
  • Assist with system implementations, integrations, and data cleanup
• Cross‑Functional Partnership
  • Partner with leaders across functional areas

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in CPG, manufacturing, or food & beverage industries
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting and in particular, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and close management
• Hands‑on experience with ERP and accounting software (e.g., Quick Books Desktop and Online, Net Suite a plus)
• Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
• Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational and time‑management skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
• Preferred:
  • Familiarity with AP/AR automation tools
  • CPA or CPA candidate is a plus but not required
