Executive Director, Creative‑Film/TV/Visual Media Base Pay Range

Position SummaryManages the administrative operations and programs for Film/TV/Visual Media, reporting to the VP of Film/TV/Visual Media. Maintains and increases BMI's creative strategies and market share.
Essential Functions- Establishes, develops, and maintains relationships with composers, publishers, and Film/TV/Visual Media music industry executives and visual media community.
- Facilitates the relationships between BMI affiliates and the music industry by networking with industry professionals.
- Handles complex inquiries and issues related to top‑level Film/TV/Visual Media composers, publishers, and their representatives. Conducts comprehensive investigation.
- Acquires an end‑to‑end understanding of BMI’s distribution and administration operations to appropriately respond to a wide variety.
- Researches and responds to escalated, complex inquiries, such as supporting larger rights holders with income tracking issues and royalty related questions.
- Identifies root causes of customer inquiries and any emerging themes or trends behind increased volume; shares observations with leadership and appropriate cross‑functional teams to facilitate more comprehensive solutions.
- Escalates inquiries that rise to certain levels of complexity and/or sensitivity to the relevant subject matter experts and/or leadership.
- Attends music industry events as a representative of BMI to maintain BMI’s profile and increase industry contacts.
- Acts as an advisor to music organizations, community groups, and in all industry related events.
- Serves as a spokesperson for BMI at various industry panels, events, universities, music education forums and cross‑industry initiatives, both locally and nationally, educating the music community on the role and function of BMI.
- Supports internal department research initiatives and external relevant industry research.
- Analyzes affiliates’ royalty earnings, work catalogs, and future Visual Media projects to provide projections on future earnings.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of BMI’s policies and practices, including relevant aspects of affiliation and royalty distribution.
- Maintains a working knowledge of BMI’s role in the music industry, its competitive pressures, and how those matters impact BMI writers and publishers.
- Regular attendance.

Directly supervises departmental team members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, directing and ensuring reliability of work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Position QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in the music industry. Visual Media Industries a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Able to establish a constructive and informative relationship with a diverse employee population, BMI management (both locally and nationally), writers and publishers.
- Proficient in the Film/TV/Visual Media industry and analytics for research.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrated through ease in presenting work and actively gathering feedback.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing teams of people.
- Self‑motivated and willing to expand knowledge.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience working with and maintaining database systems and reports, as well as word processing and spreadsheets.
