Who We're Looking For
The City of Beverly Hills Police Department seeks highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Civilian Investigator. The Civilian Investigator performs complex civilian law‑enforcement investigations of financial crimes, property crimes, and crimes against persons. The investigator provides broad investigative support for the Detective Bureau by conducting misdemeanor and certain felony investigations. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about current laws and regulations, familiar with computer systems and applications, has case‑management experience, is organized, self‑sufficient, works well as part of a team, and communicates effectively.
Distinguishing Characteristics
This is a journey‑level, specialized non‑sworn technical classification. Incumbents carry a full caseload and are responsible for the complete resolution of each case assigned. The role is distinguished from a Police Officer by the fact that the incumbent is not a sworn officer, does not carry a firearm, does not respond to in‑progress incidents, has minimal contact with suspects, and does not make arrests.

- Background Check – The final step requires a thorough police background investigation, including DOJ and FBI background check, education and employment history, credit, criminal and DMV review, personal statement, and reference checks.
Eligibility List
