Chair, Doctor of Nursing Practice Program

Executive-level position in the Cummings School of Nursing & Health Sciences at Endicott College. The Chair reports to the Dean and leads the DNP program in all aspects: daily operations, faculty supervision, curriculum development, program evaluation, accreditation, and student academic success.

Boston, MA — Salary range: $95,000.00 – $.

Key Responsibilities
  • Academic Advising (40%)
    • Provide academic advising to up to 30 students, guiding them through admission, progression, and completion.
    • Orient new advisees within two weeks before the start of their program.
    • Meet at least monthly with advisees to enroll in new courses & check on course progress.
    • Share resources with advisees for academic success at the beginning of each course.
    • Collaborate monthly with the Dean to identify and coach students at risk.
    • Respond to advisee emails or phone calls within 24 hours.
    • Supervise DNP/FNP students in navigating the certification process with a benchmark of 80‑100% success.
    • Earn high ratings (above average/exemplary) from students on accurate advising.
  • Contribute to the School of Nursing (30%)
    • Serve on committees to support the School of Nursing and the broader college.
    • Collaborate with the Associate Dean to conduct ongoing assessment and continuous improvement of the DNP program.
    • Participate in recruitment events, enrollment, and retention of DNP graduate nursing students.
    • Sustain an 80% retention and graduation rate for the DNP program.
    • Participate in school‑wide assessment and accreditation efforts.
  • Teaching (10%)
    • Teach 2 courses a year at the MSN or DNP level.
    • Develop course content and materials in accordance with departmental needs and School standards.
    • Employ a variety of assessment tools and strategies for 100% of courses taught.
    • Earn above average/exemplary ratings on student course evaluations.
  • Supervise, Train, and Evaluate Faculty (10%)
    • Support the Dean in monitoring student progress, orienting new adjuncts, reviewing curriculum, and managing enrollments.
    • Collaborate with the Dean to hire, supervise, train, and evaluate part‑time faculty in graduate nursing.
    • Implement 100% of Canvas courses taught aligned with School standards.
    • Review student course evaluations and make documented pedagogical adjustments.
    • Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate 100% of part‑time graduate advisors in Degree Audit/Work Day and best practices in academic advising.
  • Increase Reputation (10%)
    • Maintain a record of scholarship in the field of graduate nursing education.
    • Represent the College at national and state conferences, seminars, or through publications.
    • Other duties as assigned.
Reporting Structure

The Chair reports directly to the Dean of the Cummings School of Nursing & Health Sciences.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) required.

  • Ability to mentor students at master’s and doctoral levels.
  • Outstanding teaching competencies, including online, lab, or simulation.
  • Commitment to service and active participation in professional organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills with an interest in working with non‑traditional and adult students.
  • Self‑directed with strong organizational skills.
  • Detail‑oriented and student‑centered.
  • Proficient with MS Office, Google Suite, Canvas LMS, and other relevant technologies.
