Job SummaryThe Tool Crib/Calibration Technician oversees the organization, issuance, and calibration of tools and gages used in manufacturing or quality control environments. This role ensures all measurement equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and tracked using GAGEtrak software to meet ISO and internal quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Tool Crib Management
- Maintain an organized and efficient tool crib.
- Issue and receive tools and gages to/from production staff.
- Inspect tools for wear, damage, or calibration needs.
- Perform minor repairs or coordinate external servicing.
- Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific standards.
- Support internal and external audits with calibration documentation.
- Assist quality engineers in assessing impact of out-of-tolerance equipment.
- GAGEtrak Software Utilization
- Use GAGEtrak to track gage issuance, returns, calibration schedules, and service history.
- Manage inventory of calibrated tools and ensure timely calibration.
- Generate service requests and documentation for internal audits or external vendors.
- Apply transfer rules and templates to ensure gages meet job-specific requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; technical training preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in calibration, metrology, or tool crib operations.
- Proficiency in GAGEtrak or similar calibration management software.
- Familiarity with dimensional measurement tools and standards.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Google Docs).
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of AS9100, ISO
9001, or NADCAP standards. - Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
