PositionSummary
The School Nurse Leader supports the Director of Health Services in providing direction, oversight, and coordination of evening school health services for the Landmark Health Center. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based health care to students and promotes health and wellness policies that support academic success. This position provides clinical guidance, administrative support, and performance oversight to on campus school nurses.
This is a full-time 10 month position.

M-F 2:30 p.m.–10:30 p.m. or Su - Thur 2:30 p.m.–10:30 p.m.
The nurse will collaborate with the health center nursing team under the supervision of the Director of Health Services and School Physician. Responsibilities include overseeing and providing direct care to students in accordance with school policies, procedures, and state laws regarding nursing practice. The school nurse must be comfortable multitasking and working both independently and as part of a team. Duties include student assessments, managing plans of care for injuries and illnesses, maintaining health records, and administering medications.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with students in Grades 9-12.
- In collaboration with the Director of Health Services, supervise and evaluate the performance of evening school nurses within the health center.
- Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring of new school nurses.
- Provide clinical expertise and case consultation on complex health issues affecting students.
- Ensure consistent implementation of health services protocols, emergency care plans, and chronic disease management procedures in the school health center.
- Collaborate with school administrators and other departments to support a safe and healthy school environment.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, parents, community healthcare providers, and public health agencies.
- Support crisis response, including student health emergencies and public health incidents.
- Provide direct professional nursing care, including first aid, illness/injury assessment, and emergency care to students.
- Administer medication with a physician’s order, in accordance with school policy and state guidelines.
- Make appropriate referrals on health issues and consult the Director as needed.
- Communicate with families regarding student care.
- Serve as an educational resource for parents, students, and faculty.
- Collaborate with mental health staff, athletic trainers (ATCs), and school administration as necessary.
- Manage student dietary needs and food allergies in collaboration with the kitchen manager.
- Maintain accurate health records for each student.

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word, with the ability to learn Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Qualifications/
Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required;
Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or related field preferred. - Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license.
