Axcelis is seeking an Engineer Software Applications I to join the Operations Technology team. This entry-level role develops, tests, supports, and improves custom business applications for manufacturing, warehouse, and operational processes. The position partners with engineering, operations, quality, and IT to automate workflows, improve efficiency, and support digital transformation in a manufacturing environment.

• Develop, test, maintain, and enhance business applications supporting manufacturing, warehouse, and operational processes.
• Troubleshoot software issues and improve application reliability, performance, and usability.
• Participate in code reviews, follow development best practices, and create unit, integration, and regression tests.

• Support internally developed applications by diagnosing issues, assisting with releases, upgrades, and deployments, and working with users to resolve business challenges.
• Monitor application performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Partner with manufacturing, warehouse, quality, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into software solutions.
• Design automation and integration solutions that reduce manual work, improve efficiency, and support scalable digital transformation.

• Develop and execute test plans to validate functionality, requirements, and release readiness.
• Create and maintain technical, user, and support documentation for long‑term application sustainability and knowledge sharing.
• Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and production deployments.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• 0-2 years of software development experience through internships, co‑ops, academic projects, or professional work.
• Experience with one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, Type Script, C#, Java, or similar technologies.
• Basic understanding of software development lifecycle practices, relational databases, and SQL.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

• Experience with modern web frameworks such as React, Angular, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with Node.js, REST APIs, system integrations, Git, Azure Dev Ops, cloud, Dev Ops, or CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of manufacturing, operations, warehouse management, supply chain, automation, analytics, AI, or digital transformation.

U.S. BASE SALARY RANGE $73,525.20 - $

The range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations.

The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression as you develop within the role.

Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in the Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regular employees working 20+ hours a week).
