Tesco Shift Leader – Days – Bewdley Load St Express
Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 an hour; this increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
It’s our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but you may work fewer (minimum 12).
Availability Window:
- Mon 14:00 – 23:00
- Fri 05:30 – 14:30
- Sat 14:00 – 23:00
Responsibilities:
- Work in a fast‑paced retail environment.
- Take ownership of running duty shifts and coordinate the team to deliver a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
- Be available to customers, listen to them and ensure they leave satisfied.
- Find ways to improve service, coaching colleagues and giving feedback.
- Guide and support colleagues in‑store, ensuring a safe shopping and working environment.
- Maintain a clear understanding of store performance and assist managers in actions that improve operations.
- Lead from the front, setting a great example for colleagues in everything you do.
- Coordinate the store team to deliver a fuss‑free shopping experience.
- Support colleagues in meeting daily priorities and taking regular breaks.
- Open and close the store, completing duty cover and making decisions that maintain safety.
- Act as the go‑to person for day‑to‑day queries in the absence of a manager.
- Ensure the store is always clean, tidy and well‑presented.
- Support managers in coordinating seasonal, community and charity events.
- Create an inclusive, positive team atmosphere and celebrate colleague achievements.
- Follow health and safety routines and procedures and ensure colleagues do the same.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Be a role model by providing thoughtful customer service and meeting every customer’s needs.
- Build strong, long‑lasting relationships with colleagues to create a positive team atmosphere.
- Communicate clearly through multiple methods to keep the team updated.
- Take the lead and oversee the store in a manager’s absence.
- Make flexible, good decisions, handling change to keep the store running smoothly.
- Motivate the team to deliver beyond expectations.
- Be curious and always look for ideas to serve customers, communities, and the planet better.
- Hold relevant retail or shift‑leading experience, or be willing to learn.
- Be 18 or over.
