GCSE tutor

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging one-to-one or small-group GCSE tuition (core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science, or your subject specialism).

• Adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning needs and abilities.

• Build positive, supportive relationships with students who may have had challenging educational experiences.

• Track and report on student progress.

• Work collaboratively with families, schools, and support professionals when required.

• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.

Who We're Looking For

• Experience teaching or tutoring GCSE-level subjects.

• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach when working with vulnerable young people.

• Ability to tailor lessons to different learning styles and needs.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

• Teaching qualification, degree in a relevant subject, or significant tutoring experience preferred.

Desirable Experience

• Working with students with SEN, SEMH, or those at risk of exclusion.

• Experience in alternative provision, youth work, or mentoring.

• Familiarity with safeguarding practices in education.
