GCSE tutor

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging one-to-one or small-group GCSE tuition (core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science, or your subject specialism).

Adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning needs and abilities.

Build positive, supportive relationships with students who may have had challenging educational experiences.

Track and report on student progress.

Work collaboratively with families, schools, and support professionals when required.

Maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.

Who We're Looking For

Experience teaching or tutoring GCSE-level subjects.

A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach when working with vulnerable young people.

Ability to tailor lessons to different learning styles and needs.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Teaching qualification, degree in a relevant subject, or significant tutoring experience preferred.

Desirable Experience

Working with students with SEN, SEMH, or those at risk of exclusion.

Experience in alternative provision, youth work, or mentoring.

Familiarity with safeguarding practices in education.
