Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated and experienced Primary SEN Tutor to provide 1:1 support to a primary-aged student in Bexley. The student is currently out of mainstream education and requires tailored educational support to help re-engage with learning and achieve their individual targets.

The student has additional learning needs and would benefit from a patient, nurturing, and adaptable tutor who can deliver personalised lessons while building confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, tailored 1:1 tuition sessions aligned with the student's age, ability, and educational needs.
  • Support a primary-aged learner who is currently out of school and may have experienced disruption to their education.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and resources to accommodate SEND requirements and learning preferences.
  • Create a positive and structured learning environment that encourages participation and engagement.
  • Support the development of literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills where appropriate.
  • Build a strong and trusting relationship with the student to promote confidence and progress.
  • Monitor, record, and report on student progress and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Experience working with primary-aged children with SEND.
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and differentiated learning strategies.
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners who may be reluctant or disengaged from education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a relevant teaching qualification.
  • Experience delivering EOTAS, alternative provision, or home tuition.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and targeted intervention strategies.
  • Experience working with Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH needs, or Speech and Language difficulties.
  • Training in areas such as Team Teach, Autism Awareness, Makaton, PECS, or Zones of Regulation.
  • Previous experience delivering 1:1 tuition in community or home settings.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate SEN Tutor to make a meaningful difference in a young learner's educational journey. By providing personalised support, you will help the student overcome barriers to learning, rebuild confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
