Role Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, financial controls, procurement accounting, vendor management, statutory compliance, reporting, and audit support. The role ensures accurate financial records, transparent transactions, timely closures, and coordination with internal teams to support smooth business operations.

Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Bookkeeping
Maintain accurate books of accounts as per company policies and statutory standards.
Handle daily accounting entries including AP, AR, bank, cash, and journal postings.
Perform bank, vendor, and ledger reconciliations regularly.
Ensure invoices, vouchers, and expense statements are properly verified and posted.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
Monitor accuracy of financial data and ensure audit-ready documentation.

2. Procurement & Purchase Accounting Support
Validate purchase orders, variations, and supporting documents.
Coordinate with procurement teams for vendor quotations and price comparisons.
Ensure procurement activities align with budgets, quality, and timelines.
Maintain purchase records, agreements, rate contracts, and cost data.
Track material delivery confirmations and documentation (PO, GRN, invoices).

3. Vendor & Payment Management
Maintain strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
Verify vendor bills against PO and GRN before processing payments.
Prepare payment requests and track approval workflows.
Ensure payments adhere to agreed credit terms and cycles.
Resolve billing discrepancies and vendor disputes promptly.
Maintain vendor aging and follow up for pending settlements.

4. Compliance, Documentation & Audit Support
Ensure proper maintenance of accounting and procurement documentation.
Handle GST, TDS, and other statutory compliances as applicable.
Prepare data and documentation for internal and external audits.
Respond to audit queries and ensure closure within timelines.
Ensure zero tolerance toward compliance deviations or penalties.

5. MIS Reporting & Coordination
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports on:
Accounting status
Purchase updates
Vendor aging
Payments
Pending approvals
Coordinate with finance, stores, operations, and management for approvals.
Provide financial insights to support management decision-making.
Track follow-ups and escalation for delays in approvals or documentation.

6. Process Improvement & Controls
Recommend improvements in accounting and procurement workflows.
Strengthen internal controls for documentation and payment processing.
Ensure accuracy, transparency, and accountability in all transactions.
Support automation or system improvements in accounting processes.

7. Professional Conduct & Collaboration
Maintain office decorum and professional behaviour.
Communicate clearly and professionally with vendors, auditors, and colleagues.
Contribute to a positive, collaborative work culture.
Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all financial activities.
Continuously upgrade knowledge, especially in renewable energy accounting practices.

Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and statutory compliance.
Experience in GST, TDS, vendor management, and reconciliations.
Proficiency in accounting software (Tally / ERP / SAP / Zoho Books, etc.).
Strong Excel and MIS reporting skills.
Good communication and coordination abilities.
High attention to detail and ownership mindset.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.

Educational Qualification
B.Com / M.Com / CA-Inter / MBA (Finance) preferred.
Additional certification in accounting or taxation is an advantage.

Experience Requirement
Minimum  4–5 years of relevant experience  in accounting, preferably in EPC, renewable energy, construction, or corporate environments.
Hands-on exposure to procurement accounting, vendor payments, compliance, and audits.
