We have an exciting opportunity for the position of  Genetic Counsellor  in  Bhubaneshwar  location. It is a full time and work from office opportunity.

Skills and Experience

Required:

3+ years of work experience Genetic Counselling.
Sound knowledge in Genetic Tests and ability to communicate with Patients & Clinicians.
Knowledge on Pre test and Post test counselling

Key responsibilities of the Role:

Provide Pre-Test & Post-Test genetic counselling by audio or video mode.
Provide in-person counselling at hospitals or clinics whenever required.
Consult with the Clinical Geneticist and treating clinician where required.
Analyse patient histories, draw a 3-generation pedigree, and maintain GC records.
Educating individuals and at-risk family members about genetics, genetic disorders, and their consequences.
Discussing the option of genetic testing and the possible outcomes.
Provide psychosocial support through the genetic testing process.
Explaining test results to individuals, discussing the impact of the result on self and other members of the family.
Help them make decisions for further testing based on test results.
Provide a written summary for the same.
Be part of projects the GC team is involved in.

Assisting the Clinical Reporting Team and Technical Support Teams:

Understand the TRFs and enter the clinical details as per HPO terminology in the PHENOME database.
Ensure Phenome data is entered regularly and within timelines.
Liaison with the technical support team to clear customer and other technical queries when needed.
Talk to referring clinicians/clients to assist in getting clinical details for genetic data analysis, inform results, help them interpret results, and suggest further testing.
Complete the cycle of pre-test counselling, tracing test results, post-test counselling, and liaise with the clinician at LVPI, Bhubaneshwar or with the Clinical Geneticist at Med Genome as required.
Provide a written summary of the counselling sessions provided.
Interact with clinicians and offer scientific support.

Educational

Qualification:

Masters in Human Genetics/Life Science or relevant studies.
