Overview
Evolito’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace applications to support a net-zero world. Evolito develops and manufactures lightweight, high-power, high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for aerospace markets including EVTOL, unmanned aerial vehicles and general aviation. We design and deliver high-integrity, bespoke battery systems for aerospace and defence markets. The team is growing rapidly, and we are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and implementation of Evolito’s electric motor range on key customer projects.
Keyresponsibilities
- Detailed design of 3D CAD models and drawings using best practice geometric tolerances, key characteristics and drawing standards
- Provide detailed input to ensure overall design meets requirements for functionality and manufacture
- Collaborate with the CAE team to analyse and optimise designs for stress, thermal effects, and fluid flows
- Work with the Systems Team to generate powertrain configurations across a variety of aircraft
- Support the development of manufacturing processes and novel designs for new technology applications and materials
- Support DFMEAs and complete actions required to mitigate risks
- Liaise with key suppliers and customers on design and development issues, resolving to optimal solutions while understanding compromises
- Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with proven experience in a design and development environment
- Experienced user of CAD software with the ability to create design concepts and fully dimensioned drawings, working to BS8888 with best practice geometric tolerances and key characteristics
- Ability to undertake and interpret mechanical FEA studies and propose solutions or improvements to design issues
- Experience with drawing control systems such as PDM
- A strong mechanical or electrical engineering background, with ability to apply knowledge to real-world situations
- Creative problem solver with an analytical approach to implementation
- Familiar with FMEAs and robust engineering practices
- Good understanding of materials and their mechanical properties and processing
- Confident with customers and suppliers, able to detail requirements and understand issues
- Flexible and proactive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites
