Permanent Constable - Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officer (CTSFO) – South East Region

Constable (Full Time – 40 hrs/week, flexible working permitted)

Overview

We are seeking substantive Constables to join the South East Region CTSFO Hub as Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officers (CTSFO). Qualified officers will undertake the national CTSFO pathway and may be deployed on national counter‑terrorism and firearms operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend and complete the national CTSFO pathway (SFIC, MASTS, D9/CTSFO Upskills).
  • Deploy as part of national response to terrorist or extreme threat incidents.
  • Provide support to the region with planned and spontaneous firearms operations.
  • Support divisional policing using specialist tactics.
  • Maintain readiness for on‑call rota and flexible duty hours.
  • Travel to all parts of the UK for operational deployments and national exercises.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Occupationally competent and operationally deployable Armed Response Officer (NPFTC).
  • Advanced driver with TPP or IPP‑Armed driving qualifications.
  • Trained in the use of Glock handgun and the Force’s chosen carbine.
  • Willing to undergo CTSFO upskill within 6–18 months.
  • SC vetted or able to achieve SC Vetting Clearance.
  • Accredited as a Firearms Tactical Advisor.
  • Trained to D13.2 AFO Enhanced First Aid Standard.
  • Competent advanced police motorcyclist.
  • No formal or informal action plans for sickness, complaints, discipline or unsatisfactory performance.
  • Competent rating or above in the last reporting year for PDR.
  • Up-to-date firearms training records for the past three years.
