FMI is a solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. Our focus in Maine includes multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips, and rocket motor throats and nozzles. Our materials are used on initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and NASA s Mars 2020 mission, missile programs, jet engine airfoils, and lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles.
Your role: FMI is seeking an Automation Engineer for our Advanced Programs within R&T. As the Automation Engineer
, you will design, validate and implement automation, data collection and process control systems supporting activities from clean sheet, high-precision, multi-variate systems to production system retrofits, with goals to improve safety, quality, cost, and cycle time. You will lead automation and control system integration, planning, coordinating and executing technical activities to enable new system development, existing process improvement, and equipment installation or modification.
To succeed, you should be able to visualize projects at the system level yet drill down to implement the details, and work as a technical problem solver in both custom equipment and established processes to deliver best-in-class customer support. There will be opportunities to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of development and engineering disciplines.
