Salary: £39,520 – £54,080 per year (depending on experience)

About the CNC Role
We are seeking an experienced Manual & CNC Cylindrical Grinder to join our skilled machining and toolroom team in Bideford. You will be responsible for producing high‑precision components using both manual and CNC grinding equipment, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
Experience with Jones & Shipman grinders is preferred, and previous toolroom experience will be a strong advantage.
CNC
Key Responsibilities
• Operate manual and CNC cylindrical grinding machines
• Set and run Jones & Shipman grinders to tight tolerances
• Produce precision components for a variety of applications
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Carry out in‑process inspection and quality checks
• Maintain tooling, equipment, and a clean working environment
• Support continuous improvement and problem‑solving activities
Ideal Candidate Profile
• Proven experience in manual and CNC cylindrical grinding
• Working knowledge of Jones & Shipman machines (preferred)
• Toolroom background or experience (advantageous)
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to fine tolerances
• Confident interpreting technical drawings
• Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work well within a close‑knit team
