Recrutis is supporting one of its clients, a Swiss industrial partner delivering process equipment and capital projects to the pharmaceutical and biotech sector, in the search for a CAPEX Project Manager, based in Biel/Bienne.
Why this role- Full ownership of complex capital projects end-to-end: schedule, cost, quality and safety, with accountability for budget and project margin.
- A supplier-side project management role — you carry the project towards the customer, not only internally: variation orders, claims, negotiation and acceptance are yours to manage.
- Technically concrete scope: skid-based process equipment in GMP environments, with budgets typically between CHF 700k and CHF 5M.
- Direct exposure across site, customer, supplier and senior management levels, on projects delivered for pharma and biotech clients across Switzerland.
- Real project variety through regular presence on customer sites in both French- and German-speaking Switzerland.
- Location:
Biel/Bienne, with on-site presence approximately 3 days per week. - Regular travel to customer sites in French- and German-speaking Switzerland.
- Duration: 12 months, from October 2026 to October 2027. Start ASAP / October 2026.
- Seniority: 10+ years as overall or lead project manager in plant or process construction.
- Languages:
German and English fluent (German is knockout);
French is an asset.
- Take full accountability for project outcomes, including budget, margin and financial controlling.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate external partners and subcontractors.
- Manage stakeholders across site, customer, supplier and senior management levels.
- Oversee risk management, resource planning and escalation management.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, quality and industry standards in a GMP environment.
- Manage variation orders and claims through to project handover and acceptance.
- Deliver on time and on budget, with sound handling of amendments and a clean project acceptance.
- Engineering degree (Bachelor / FH / HF) in process or mechanical engineering, or equivalent qualification.
- 10+ years' experience as overall or lead project manager in plant or process construction.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, food or chemical industries, in a GMP-regulated environment.
- Demonstrated ownership of project budget, margin and financial controlling, including variation orders and claims.
- Strong leadership, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills, with genuine comfort navigating customer expectations, commercial pressure and on-the-ground realities.
- Fluent German (working language) and fluent English.
- Availability for on-site presence in Biel/Bienne approximately 3 days per week, with regular travel to customer sites in French- and German-speaking Switzerland.
- Biotech project experience (strongly preferred over other regulated industries).
- Hands-on experience with skid-based process equipment and modular plant delivery.
- Track record on supplier-side / EPC or equipment-vendor projects with direct customer accountability.
- French, in addition to German and English.
