Summary of Position:

The Academic Advising Student Office Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of ongoing initiatives for the Department of Academic Advising by assisting with daily operations, communication, and ongoing projects. The Student Office Assistant must also uphold strict confidentiality, as they may have access to sensitive student information.

Position Requirements :
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Time management skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of social media platforms
  • Confidentiality is required at all times due to the sensitive nature of the position
  • Access to some student records requires FERPA training
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Perform general office duties including filing, data entry, and maintaining organized and efficient office spaces
  • Foster strong partnerships with primary-role academic advisors across campus
  • Manage University Advising Email and direct messages appropriately
  • Support departmental initiatives and ongoing projects as assigned
  • Oversee registration labs during peak enrollment periods, assisting students with scheduling and registration questions
  • Assist with creating content and communication for the Department of Advising's social media and other outlets
  • Assist with planning and executing advising-related events, workshops, and activities
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records and sensitive information
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the department's efficiency and effectiveness
