The position is in the Competency Training & Development Department of the Big Spring State Hospital, where you will assist in planning and developing training and staff development programs.
Responsibilities- Assist in planning and developing training and staff development initiatives.
- Maintain training records and update them routinely as training is completed.
- Serve as primary instructor for computer training and other trainings as assigned.
- Provide computer support for the department.
- Exercise leadership in planning and achieving objectives in all areas of assigned responsibility, under the general supervision of the CTD Director or designee/lead trainer.
- Coordinate and teach required advanced computer applications and other training as requested/assigned.
- Enter training data into CAPPS in accordance with departmental standards.
- File training records within the required time frame.
- Update current curriculum as necessary to maintain state of the art training.
- Record and disseminate minutes for the Competency Training and Development Advisory Committee.
- Complete LAN and other access requests in a timely and accurate manner according to established criteria.
- Collate aggregated data regarding all training within five days of training completion.
- Assist with scheduling and registration for training courses and conferences, and with preparing and updating course rosters.
- Ensure AV equipment and library resources are maintained.
- Organize and prepare material and supplies for training courses such as notebooks, handouts, flip‑charts, projectors, laptops, or other resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including active participation in disaster response, recovery, or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation when required.
- Considerable knowledge of training procedures, techniques, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of adult educational principles, group processes, dynamics, and interpersonal relations; knowledge of instructional and curriculum design.
- Ability to direct or supervise others; assess training needs; formulate learning objectives; evaluate training effectiveness; communicate effectively; and interpret policies and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work well with others as well as independently.
- Computer knowledge and skills, including effective use of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Windows, Excel, Microsoft Teams, webmail, and Outlook, and ability to enter data promptly and accurately.
- Ability to acquire and maintain certifications necessary to teach a variety of required classes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professionalism as demonstrated in the workplace.
- Ability to complete all tasks within specified time frames.
- Experience assisting with presentations and speaking in front of a large group of people.
- Experience utilizing computer programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, webmail, and Microsoft Teams.
- Experience in clerical work and maintaining a filing system.
Will be required to become certified in PI‑Cert (Progressional Instructor Certification) within 1 year of employment.
