Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health
Location: Big Spring, TX 79720
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (07:00 AM – 08:00 PM); alternating 36/48-hour schedule; block scheduling available; every other weekend required.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
- Previous travel nursing experience required.
- BLS certification required.
- Active Texas RN license or applicable license in hand required at submission.
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and Nursys required with submission.
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred.
- Epic charting experience preferred.
- Experience in adult inpatient behavioral health.
- Ability to manage a patient ratio of 1:8.
- Experience with crisis intervention, de-escalation, behavior management, and suicide prevention.
- Knowledge of antipsychotics, antidepressants, antianxiety medications, and mood stabilizers.
- Experience with seclusion protocols, physical hold protocols, and emergency chemical restraints preferred.
Description:
Shannon Medical Center in Big Spring, TX, is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health RN for its adult inpatient psychiatric unit. The unit has 20 beds and an average daily census of 9 patients, with a patient ratio of 1:8. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring patients with behavioral and psychiatric conditions, implementing crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques, and ensuring patient safety. The RN may float to the ER or Med-Surg unit as needed.
Travel nursing experience is required, and block scheduling is available.
