HSCS is comprised of nine psychiatric hospitals, one youth residential treatment facility, and thirteen state supported living centers. The psychiatric hospitals are a hub of excellence for forensic mental health and complex psychiatric care, with all facilities accredited by The Joint Commission. Job Functions (EJFs)
- Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs custodial functions timely and with high quality including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning windows and light fixtures. Ensures proper sanitization and disinfection in accordance with training received.
- Cleans and maintains floors, restrooms, nurses' station, and other areas in accordance with established procedures and safety measures.
- Maintains and cleans the interior and exterior of assigned buildings, empties trash, reports needed repairs. Replenishes supplies as needed.
- Coaches other custodians as needed.
- Inspects assigned buildings and areas for cleanliness, completed work, and needed minor repairs, and performs minor maintenance.
- Completes documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Protects confidential information. Maintains inventory and equipment records.
- Helps patients maintain optimal health and provides a safe environment for self, persons served and others.
- Performs other duties as assigned including participating in disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, which may require alternate shift patterns and/or location.

Initial Screening Criteria- Six months work experience required.
- Experience in custodial or environmental services work in a nursing home, hospital, residential facility, hotel or other similar residential equivalent preferred.
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aid, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct, List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Males between the ages of 18-25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
