The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining the financial integrity of the organization. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and supports audits, grants, and budgeting processes. The Senior Accountant works closely with finance leadership and program managers to ensure funds are tracked and reported properly.

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate journal entries
• Reconcile bank accounts, grants, and balance sheet accounts
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards

• Track restricted and unrestricted funds
• Ensure proper allocation of expenses to grants and programs
• Prepare financial reports for grantors and funders
• Monitor grant budgets and spending compliance

• Assist in annual budget preparation and ongoing forecasts
• Analyze budget vs. actual results and explain variances
• Support program managers with financial planning and reporting

• Support annual external audits and Form 990 preparation
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and donor requirements
• Maintain documentation for grants, contracts, and audits

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting
• Review internal controls and recommend improvements
• Assist in developing and documenting accounting policies and procedures
• Work cross-functionally with development, programs, and operations teams
• Support finance leadership with special projects and analysis

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 4–7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting and GAAP
• Experience with audits and grant reporting
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Sage Intacct, Net Suite)

$35 to $38 an hour

Compensation is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
