Collections Specialist

Description We are looking for a Collections Specialist to join a Revenue Accounting team on a Contract basis. This position supports daily accounts receivable operations by handling invoicing, collection outreach, customer communication, and administrative recordkeeping. The ideal candidate brings a careful, organized approach and is comfortable managing multiple requests while maintaining accurate financial documentation.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and distribute customer invoices along with any required backup documentation to support timely payment.

- Follow up on outstanding balances by issuing delinquency reminders and contacting customers regarding overdue accounts.

- Address customer questions related to billing, payment status, account statements, and duplicate invoice requests in a thorough and organized manner.

- Oversee a shared accounts receivable mailbox, ensuring incoming requests are prioritized and directed to the appropriate internal contacts.

- Record collection activity, customer responses, promised payment dates, and next steps to maintain accurate account history.

- Partner with internal departments to resolve standard billing concerns and elevate disputed or complex issues when needed.

- Keep customer billing details, invoice files, and collection tracking records current and well organized.

- Provide administrative support through data entry, document management, and other routine tasks tied to revenue accounting operations. Requirements - 1 to 3 years of experience in accounts receivable, collections, billing, or a related support function.

- Working knowledge of commercial or consumer collection practices and general billing processes.

- Strong organizational skills with close attention to accuracy and detail.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer-facing interactions.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow established workflows, and meet deadlines consistently.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel; familiarity with accounting or ERP platforms is an advantage.

- Ability to handle sensitive customer and financial information with discretion and sound judgment.
