Overview

Salary Range: $43,060–$66,443

The Operations Specialist manages day‑to‑day operations in warehouse, export, import, and accounting functions in a medium‑sized branch office of Yusen Logistics (Americas) Inc. The role ensures efficient operations and outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Warehouse Operations:
    • Examine shipment contents and verify against records.
    • Report and resolve shortages, damages, and discrepancies.
    • Monitor shipping schedules for accuracy and timeliness.
    • Supervise TSA screening of cargo and maintain records.
    • Operate a forklift.
  • Export Operations:
    • Take booking requests, secure current accurate rates, and route shipments cost‑effectively.
    • Communicate with carriers and internal stakeholders on shipment status, special handling, and delivery.
    • Track shipments until completion and keep customers updated.
    • Ensure accurate export documentation and obtain missing documents.
    • Maintain compliance with TSA, ISO, TAPA, and IMDG requirements.

    Import Operations:
    • Process import activities, break down consolidated shipments, and enter data into YUNAS/GDS.
    • Notify overseas offices, agents, and vendors of arrivals and distribute documentation.
    • Handle accounting processes for the import department; print invoices, correct rates, file claims, and revise charges.
    • Familiar with CHB processes.
  • General Administration & Accounting:
    • Process vendor payments and on time.
    • Monitor accounts receivable and ensure timely receipt of payments.
    • Reconcile bills, checks, and balances; follow up on discrepancies.
    • Communicate with vendors to resolve issues.
    • Order and monitor office supplies inventory.
    • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and 3–5 years of experience in a freight forwarder’s warehouse, export, and/or import departments. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of import administration regulations (if responsible for import functions).
  • Knowledge of export administration regulations (if responsible for export functions).
  • Basic accounting knowledge related to AR, AP, and import billing (if required).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Forklift Certification (if responsible for warehouse operations).
  • HAZMAT Certification (if responsible for warehouse and/or export operations).
