Job Overview
SEND Class Teacher – Billericay
- Full Time, Permanent
- Based within a small class supporting Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) students aged 4‑16 years, each with statements of special education needs.
- Support multiple classes and children across the school rather than working 1:1 with any particular child.
- Plan and deliver engaging, innovative lessons on a daily basis that encourage curiosity and excitement in the classroom.
- Assist pupils with limited communication skills, including many who are non‑verbal, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs.
- Work collaboratively with the teaching team, using the school's creative and inspiring curriculum and bespoke pathways.
- Respond to challenging behaviour and deescalate situations in a calm, efficient manner, ensuring a safe learning environment.
- Support pupils with Social Emotional Mental Health needs, including experience with youth work, gang violence, sexual exploitation and related areas.
- Contribute to the school's event planning and community celebrations.
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Excellent record of knowledge and practice with children with SEN.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, optimistic approach.
- Ability to bond with pupils and work well within a team.
- Proactive leadership and a resilient work ethic.
