Bennett and Game are pleased to be representing a building design consultancy who are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their office in Billericay, Essex. Working within a team of engineers and technicians and under the supervision of the Project Owner, the Senior Engineer will lead and support technically on a range of projects while acting as Project Manager, supporting the successful delivery of technically challenging designs.
The role suits a Senior Engineer with strong technical knowledge across low rise traditional structures and medium rise RC frames, working towards Chartered membership.
Senior Structural Engineer
Position Overview
Lead and support technical delivery across a range of building structures projects
Act as Project Manager on assigned schemes, managing scope, programme and deliverables
Undertake complex structural calculations and design proofs from concept through construction
Develop analytical design models using relevant software and interpret outputs
Prepare and collate calculation files and technical documentation for submissions and reviews
Check and review designs and drawings, including self-checking before independent checking
Coordinate with architects, MEP, surveyors, utilities and specialist subcontractors
Attend meetings and site visits, carry out investigations where required and issue site reports
Respond to RFIs and design queries accurately and promptly
Mentor graduate engineers and direct junior staff, supporting team development
Support fee proposals, variation control and assist with bids for new and additional works
Maintain compliance with health and safety requirements and contribute to QA procedures
Senior Structural Engineer
Position Requirements
Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
Senior Engineer level with strong technical capability in low rise traditional structures and medium rise RC frames
Experience delivering designs through concept, planning, tender and construction stages
Competent producing complex calculations and building design models using structural software
Strong knowledge of UK design standards, codes of practice and QA processes
Comfortable managing projects, cost control and client facing communication
Able to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and manage workload across concurrent projects
Salary and Benefits
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000
