Senior Physio Assistant / Assistant Practitioner
Band 3-4 developmental Senior Physiotherapy Assistant or Assistant Practitioner. A vacant post within the Integrated Respiratory Team has arisen in North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) covering South West Essex.
The Integrated Respiratory Team is an integrated service with Nursing staff, Specialist Physiotherapists, Assistant Practitioners, Senior Physiotherapy Assistants and Administration staff. The team provides community respiratory care, including Respiratory Case Management, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Home Oxygen Service, Respiratory Virtual Ward and Breathlessness and Diagnostics service (Spirometry and FeNO).
Key Responsibilities- Promoting effective self‑management of patients after initial assessments.
- Contribute to patient education and broader holistic support networks.
- Support COPD patients and other identified respiratory conditions with assessment, with clear lines of escalation to senior staff.
- Support Oxygen home safety and management of a stable oxygen caseload, escalating CBG results.
- Perform appropriate level assessments and delivery of Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
- Support the Respiratory Virtual Ward (RVW) delivery, which supports Admission Avoidance and Early Supported Discharge pathways under supervision of a senior staff member.
- Assist in the Breathlessness and Diagnostics service by performing quality FeNO and ARTP‑accredited Spirometry, expanding as the service evolves.
- Support all aspects of service delivery and ongoing review of pathways, contributing to the transformation of Respiratory services as competency and ability allow.

High Cost Area Supplement – 5% of basic salary (minimum £1,303, maximum £2,198 per annum, pro rata for part time).
Working hours:
Monday‑Friday 9‑5 pm and Saturday‑Sunday 9‑5 pm; schedule will be set on a 4‑week rota once training and competency are signed off, with required flexibility.
Role based in South West Essex, requiring flexible coverage across Thurrock, Basildon, Brentwood, Wickford and Billericay.
Certain respiratory qualifications and courses are required; training will be provided if the successful candidate lacks them currently but qualifies at interview.
The Trust actively supports CPD and offers opportunities for upskilling in nursing and therapy areas.
