The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to work within schools in the Middlesbrough area. This role involves supporting students who may display challenging behaviour, helping them to engage positively with their education and develop essential social and emotional skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural needs.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students to promote engagement.
  • Support teachers in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour.
  • Assist in de‑escalating challenging situations calmly and effectively.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, or similar).
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with students.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable
  • Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or additional needs.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or childcare.
