Location:

Billings, MT. This traveling position may include Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, or North Dakota. Applicants are highly encouraged to relocate to Montana.

Job Description

The Superintendent oversees the construction job site, managing labor, scheduling, budget, quality control, safety, and subcontractors. On larger sites, multiple Superintendents may work with distinct scopes. The Superintendent collaborates with the Project Manager, Project Executives, Project Engineers, Safety personnel, and Senior Project Managers.

Qualifications And Required Skills

• Experience in construction with at least 5 years of Superintendent experience
• Experience as a carpenter, foreman, or project engineer is desired
• A four‑year engineering or construction management degree or five years of applied experience in construction management is desired
• Must be able to mentor, instruct, and oversee up to 40 individuals daily
• Must be OSHA 30 certified
• SWPPP certifications are desired
• Must be certified in telehandler, skidsteer, scissor lift, and boom lift operation
• Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Procore
• Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and physical

Essential Job Functions, Duties, And Responsibilities

• Conduct preconstruction tasks:
  • Review project documents, plans, and specifications
  • Review all subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Plan all site requirements
  • Order required supplies and materials
  • Generate a project schedule
• Understand all scopes of work and budget for each scope
• Track job site production daily and report production at least weekly
• Mentor and train carpenters, foremen, and project engineers
• Maintain and update the project schedule
• Conduct quality control of all trades and ongoing work
• Work with safety personnel to ensure work is safe and the site is hazard‑free
• Ensure the job site remains orderly, clean, and organized
• Work with equipment and maintenance personnel to track and maintain all company‑owned and rented equipment
• Coordinate and execute weekly subcontractor meetings
• Assist safety personnel in weekly safety meetings
• Review and submit employee timecards bi‑weekly

Additional Duties And Responsibilities

• May assist with performing carpentry duties
• May perform housekeeping duties such as sweeping, clearing debris, and trash removal
• May assist in demolition tasks as needed
• Once certified, may use a telehandler forklift or skidsteer to complete tasks
• Use a company vehicle to pick up or deliver materials
• Any other tasks provided by safety personnel or superintendents

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This position is strenuous. Applicants must be able to lift and carry heavy objects, work outdoors in all weather, climb ladders or scaffolding, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, and stand for long periods. Applicants must have full dexterity of neck, back, arms and legs, be able to see clearly for small details, sit in an office environment using a tablet, keyboard and mouse, and communicate by phone and text messaging.
