Job Summary

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for assisting in the oversight of gym operations to ensure an exceptional “Judgement Free” member experience as well as a financially successful club.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing a high-performing staff consisting of Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
  • Maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all members, prospective members, and guests, ensuring staff follows superior customer service guidelines.
  • Provide support in Staff Management and backup support to the Club Manager as needed.
  • Assist in scheduling and supervising staff.
  • Oversee member service quality, ensuring staff provides a superior customer experience at all times.
  • Resolve or escalate employee issues or concerns.
  • Manage all front desk activities, including:
    • Answering phones in a friendly manner and assisting callers with questions.
    • Checking members into the system.
    • Facilitating new member sign-up and tours for prospective members.
    • Handling member requests, issues, and questions.
  • Assist in overseeing cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.
  • Assist in ordering supplies within the specified budget based on club requirements.
  • Track statistics and generate reports weekly, monthly, and annually.
  • Provide backup support for employees who are absent.
  • Qualifications/Requirements

    • Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
    • Experience working as a Member Service Representative at Planet Fitness.
    • Strong supervisory, diplomatic, and listening skills.
    • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
    • Hardworking, enthusiastic, and energetic.
    • Strong problem resolution skills.
    • Current CPR Certification required.
    • High school diploma/GED or equivalent required.

    Physical Demands

    • Continual standing and walking during shift.
    • Continuous talking in person or on the phone during shift.
    • Ability to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
    • Occasional exposure to toxic chemicals during shift.
