This person will be part of an integrated team responsible for the electrical design in support of Data Center and other Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure. The Data Center Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing projects from start to finish, coordinating with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing, and all team members. They will develop feasibility reports, construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, perform RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigations and overall construction administration.
Strong leadership, mentorship, and collaboration are expected to deliver technically excellent design solutions.
Primary Duties:
- Mentoring/Managing:
- Help grow a team that promotes career growth, high-quality construction documents, client satisfaction, and mutual safety support.
- Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers, EITs, and BIM Specialists within a multi-discipline team throughout project development.
- Mentor, organize, and facilitate the growth of junior staff.
- Coordinate workload to complete documents on schedule.
- Technical:
- Lead electrical design for data center/mission-critical projects.
- Collaborate with clients to capture project requirements around reliability, growth, cost, sustainability, schedules, and future flexibility.
- Provide detailed design and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
- Attend design meetings and lead electrical discussions.
- Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions with PM, Architect, and other disciplines.
- Participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
- Provide design support during construction including field observations, submittal and shop drawing review, and RFI support.
- Travel:
Some travel to job sites or HDR offices may be required, communicated in advance to coordinate with project work and personal life.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
- Experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting, power, systems)
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
- Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power
- Active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong operating knowledge of Revit MEP
- Experience with architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firms
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
- Previous data center/mission-critical experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
- Local candidates preferred

The compensation range for this position depends on skills, experience, education, and location. The targeted salary range for this position is $79,734 - $148,077.
